2. Ruby Shoes
PAPERMOON is Tommy heavenly6’s ninth single, released on December 10th, 2008. It was featured as the second opening theme for the anime Soul Eater.
Although Avex has more or less poisoned the pop world in Japan, it seems they haven’t managed to destroy the quality of Japanese rock, and that’s exactly what PAPERMOON displays. Released in December, it does bear hints of Christmas, with bells in the back, but that is almost overshadowed by a really catchy rock tone similar to the pop-rock stuff you hear here in North America. Tommy heavenly6 has done it again!
Ruby Shoes is more of one of those theme songs for teen movies where everyone is running around with big smiles, and this, unlike with the A-Side, I find intolerable. It’s not a bad song a it does have A-Side potential, but I really can’t bring myself to like this song because of its attitude. At the very least, it redeems itself through its shortness.
